Bio
Hillary Dumoulin is a singer-songwriter from the Peterborough and Kawarthas region whose music pairs heartfelt storytelling with memorable melodies and an unmistakably honest approach to songwriting.
Born and raised in Lakefield, Ontario, Hillary began performing publicly at just 13 years old and developed her craft largely as a self-taught musician. Her songwriting gained early recognition in 2016 when she won Durham College’s Songs Revealed songwriting competition, where she was praised for her songcraft, original lyrics, and ability to bring melody and storytelling together.
Hillary released her debut self-titled EP before following it with her first full-length album, Fool’s Gold, in 2018. That same year, she was named the Peterborough Folk Festival Emerging Artist, joining a distinguished list of recipients that includes artists such as Serena Ryder, James McKenty, Beau Dixon and Melissa Payne.
The recognition brought Hillary to the stage at Peterborough’s historic Market Hall Performing Arts Centre, where she opened for JUNO-nominated Canadian artist Terra Lightfoot as part of the Peterborough Folk Festival.
Rooted in the singer-songwriter tradition, Hillary’s music is driven by personal storytelling—exploring love, heartbreak, relationships and the experiences that shape us. Her songs balance vulnerability with strength, allowing deeply personal moments to feel familiar to anyone listening.
After taking time away from music to focus on family and motherhood, Hillary has returned to writing, recording and performing with a new perspective and a renewed sense of purpose. Her next chapter builds on the honest storytelling that has defined her music from the beginning while reflecting the life and experiences she has lived since.
